I’ve never been to therapy before, what can i expect?
There are no smoke and mirrors, no magic pills, no secret sauce — doing the work is the shortcut. I work in a collaborative manner, with my clients and in service of my clients. Because we are all individuals and our situations are all unique, it’s tough to say exactly what will happen in each session. What I can promise you is that I want to connect with you, I want you to feel comfortable and heard, and I want to move with you in the direction of your goals.
I’ve had lots of therapy. how are you different?
All therapy is inherently personal and thus different enough in its own right. Get to know me by reading my guiding beliefs, my affinity for colorful language, the way I approach my work, and why I’m convinced our environment is a reflection of ourselves. Also, although not importantly, I have an predilection towards inappropriate footwear which I suspect is nontypical for a therapist.
what type of clients do you work with?
I work with adult individuals and couples dealing with challenges related to life transitions, trauma, depression, anxiety, sexuality, disordered eating and body image struggles, and career and relationship concerns.
I adore kids, have a couple of my own, and absolutely want to hear about the little ones in your life, but I do not work therapeutically with children. I do, however, know talented and engaging professionals who do and am happy to share them with you.
i don’t want to bore my employees with another typical keynote. can you help?
So glad you asked. I’ve sat through and, regrettably, organized more than my fair share of those executive meetings. They are at best forgettable and at worst a waste of everyone’s time and money. I work in small breakouts or large forums where I address professionals as holistic beings; dropping the masks we believe are necessary for success and connecting to the fullness of ourselves. A place where potential is limitless. Let’s tailor a program that meets your specific needs.
So, how much is this going to cost?
Therapy is an investment. It’s an investment in your well-being, in your future self, in your life. We can determine how best to work with one another given your budget and resources. My fee is $185 per session.
Do you accept insurance.
I do not accept insurance. All fees are out-of-pocket expenses. I am happy to provide receipts, known as superbills, for you to submit to your insurance company for out-of-network coverage, however I can not guarantee reimbursement.
I have to work. Can we meet on evenings or weekends?
I get it — leaving work to get to therapy can be challenging at times. I offer both evening and weekend hours to help mitigate this barrier. Those sessions are often in the most demand so I do ask for appointment consistency to secure your spot after you have an opportunity to decide if I’m a good fit.
what’s the deal with parking?
There’s plenty of parking in the building’s lot. And, yes, it’s free.
my life looks pretty good on the outside. isn’t that enough?
I want you to feel as good on the inside as you look on the outside. Perfection is boring. Let’s get real!
are puppies the panacea for all ills?
No, but they won’t hurt.
